Men’s Soccer Looks to Extend Winning Streak at Maryville

The Emory University men's soccer team will look for its third-straight win on Saturday, as the Eagles will play at Maryville College (Tenn.) at 4:30 PM in the team's final road game of the season.

Emory Eagles
Emory will enter play on Saturday on a two-game winning streak after a 1-0 victory at the University of Rochester on Sunday, and a 2-1 victory at Piedmont College on Wednesday.  The Eagles are 8-6-0 overall this season, including a 4-2-0 record in road games during the year and a 6-4-0 mark against non-conference opponents.  Emory is led by head coach Sonny Travis, who holds a 64-17-5 record during his five seasons with the team, and a 360-110-42 record during his 25-year career.

Maryville Scots
Maryville is 9-3-2 during the 2011 campaign, following their 2-0 loss to Centre College on Monday night.  The Scots are 3-2-1 in home games this season, and began the week ranked seventh in the South Atlantic Region.  Maryville goalkeeper Ben Munger ranks 17th among Division III players with a 0.875 save percentage, 60th with a 0.798 goals against average, and 107th with 5.25 saves per game.  In addition, Tom Webster is 56th with six assists and 60th with 0.46 assists per game.  Maryville is led by head coach Pepe Fernandez, who is 283-119-27 during his 23 years with the Scots.

Saturday will be Emory's final road game of the 2011 season… The Eagles took a season-high 14 corner kicks against Piedmont College Wednesday night… It was the most corner kicks taken in a game by Emory since the team took 17 against Shorter College on September 4, 2003… The Eagles' 14 shots on goal against the Lions matched a season high for the team this year… Emory sophomore Andrew Jones scored his second game-winning goal of the season during the Eagles' 2-1 win over Piedmont Wednesday night, and is now tied with Zach Samuels for the team lead in the category… Jones, Samuels, Natalino and Dylan Price are now tied for the team lead with five goals apiece… Natalino leads all Emory scorers with 14 points this season… Emory has outshot opposing teams 227-128 this season, including a 110-68 edge in shots on goal.
