Emory University junior David Garofalo scored what proved to be the difference-maker in the 60^th-minute of play, lifting the Eagles to a University Athletic Association (UAA) win over Brandeis at the Woodruff Physical Education Center on Friday night.

Battling though a steady rainfall throughout the game, the Eagles finally broke through in the second half, after both teams went scoreless through the first frame.  The game-winning play was set up by senior co-captain Zach Samuels, who sent a pass into the box, finding sophomore Andrew Jones.  Driving to the end line, Jones pulled the Brandeis keeper out of the net, and sent a cross to the other side of the box to Garofalo, who in turn headed the ball into the empty net for the goal.

The goal was the first of the season for Garofalo, and his sixth point.  Jones picked up his first assist of the season on the play, while Samuels earned his second of the year.

Emory goalkeeper Andrew Goldblum turned in his strongest performance of the year with the shutout, making seven saves during the game.  Goldblum improved to 3-1-0 on the season, and earned his second shutout of the year, and the team's seventh.

Brandeis had a number of strong chances in the game, including shots in the 15^th and 47^th minutes that hit off the crossbar.  The Judges outshot Emory 22-10 in the game, including a 7-4 edge in shots on goal.

With the win, Emory improves to 9-7-0 on the season, including a 3-2-0 mark in conference play.  Brandeis dropped to 10-5-1 on the season and to 1-3-1 in UAA games.

Emory will continue its season-ending three-game home stand on Sunday, hosting conference-rival New York University at 11:00 AM at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.
