11 Eagles Named to All-UAA 25-Year Men’s Soccer Team

Eleven former members of the Emory University men's soccer team were named to the University Athletic Association's (UAA) All-Association 25-Year Team, announced in honor of the Association's silver anniversary.

The 25-Year Team, which includes 49 athletes representing each of the eight current UAA schools, consists of each student-athlete who was named Most Valuable Player or accumulated five or more points with two points awarded for All-Association first-team recognition, and one point for second-team honors over a career.

Among those representing Emory on the team is Patrick Carver (2005-08), one of just five repeat UAA Most Valuable Players in the conference's history (2007 and 2008).  Other former UAA Players of the Year to join Carver on the team were Matt Arnett (1987-89), Dennis Jerkunica (1989-92), Michael Smith (1993-96), Ahmed Mohyeldin (1997-98), and Matthew Levine (2000-03).  Arnett was Emory's first UAA MVP selection in 1989, and was followed by Jerkunica in 1991, Smith in 1996, Mohyeldin in 1998, Levine in 2003 and Carver.

Joining the former MVPs on the Silver Anniversary Team were Scott Cahoon (1987-90), Karl Dix (2003-05), Ho Lee (1988-90), and Sam Stodghill (1986-89).  Derek Marinatos (1995-98), the only Eagle goalkeeper named to the team, rounds out the list of Emory honorees.

Emory has won six UAA Championships during the history of conference competition, claiming its most recent league title during the 2008 campaign.
