Jeffrey Cochran

Jeffrey Cochran

Emory University junior outside back Jeffrey Cochran was a key factor for the Eagles’ defense last weekend, in addition to spurring the team’s offense over the course of the squad’s two victories.  He played 151 minutes during the two contests, limiting Emory’s opponents to a combined 10 shots, four shots on goal and one goal scored, while assisting on a pair of scores for the Eagles.  During Friday’s 4-1 win at Averett University, he helped the Eagles’ defense limit the Cougars to one goal on six shots (just three of which were on goal) during his 82 minutes on the field.  In addition, he assisted on the game-winning goal with a long throw-in in the 72nd minute of the game.  On Sunday, Cochran helped lead the Eagles to a 2-0 shutout win over Guilford College, playing 69 minutes and holding the Quakers to four shots, only one of which was on goal.  He added his second assist of the weekend during the game, setting up a breakaway goal with a long pass up the middle of the field in the 88th minute.  The junior defender has been a key player on an Emory defense that has recorded a 0.75 goals-against average and two shutouts through four games, while holding opponents to an average of 5.25 shots and 2.5 shots on goal per game.  Cochran and the Eagles have opened the 2013 season with a 4-0-0 record, marking the 13th time in school history that the team has started a campaign with four-straight victories.
