Emory University sophomore Matt Sherr was named to the Sonny Carter Invitational All-Tournament Team, after helping lead an Eagles backline that did not allow a goal during his 165 minutes on the field over two games.  Sherr played 75 minutes during the Eagles’ 6-2 win over Marian University (Wis.) on Saturday, holding the Sabres scoreless on just one off-target shot during his time on the field.  In addition, the center back notched his first goal of the season and third of his career, heading in a corner kick in the 86^th minute for the Eagles’ fifth goal of the contest.  On Sunday, Sherr played all 90 minutes of the Eagles’ 1-0 win over Mississippi College, helping the team to the shutout win and surrendering just seven shots to the Choctaws, only three of which were on goal.  Sherr and the Eagles claimed the team championship at the Sonny Carter Invitational for the 10^th time in 13 years, and opened their season with a 2-0-0 record for the first time since 2010.
