#25 Emory Falls at Home to Centre, 2-1

The 25th-ranked Emory University Men's Soccer Team fell victim to a late goal on Sunday afternoon, as the Eagles dropped their second-straight 2-1 decision, falling to Centre College at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

Emory was shut down offensively for much of the game, with the Colonels' defense limiting the Eagles to a season-low five shots, including just a pair on goal.  Centre managed to take 11 shots, including five on frame.

Centre took the early advantage in the game, when Cameron Miller scored his fourth goal of the season in the 11th minute of action, after the Eagles had trouble clearing a corner kick out of the attacking third.

Emory would answer back later in the first half, when junior Carl Credle scored his first goal of the season, volleying a shot into the net after a long throw in from sophomore Leo Ragazzo.  It was Ragazzo's first assist of the campaign.

The Eagles best opportunity the remainder of the game came on a shot from outside the 18-yard box by Andrew Jones that rocketed past the keeper, but ricocheted off the right post.

The score would remain 1-1 until the 76th minute, when Centre's Jacob Trumbull would score the eventual game-winning goal, burying a shot after receiving a pass from Tyler Daniels.  It was the first goal of the season for Trumbull, and the first assist of the campaign for Daniels.

Sophomore Abe Hannigan played all 90 minutes in goal for Emory, taking the loss to fall to 4-2-0 on the year, despite recording a pair of saves.  Centre's Ohan Missirian-Dill made one save on the day and picked up the win, improving to 3-1-2 on the year.

After winning its first four games of the season, the Eagles have now lost two in a row to fall to 4-2-0 for the campaign.  Centre improved to 3-1-2 with the victory.

Emory will look to turn their recent fortunes around later in the week, when the squad travels to Maryville College (Tenn.) for a 7:00 PM game on Wednesday, September 18th.
