Emory Earns 4-1 Road Win over Maryville

The Emory University Men's Soccer Team jumped out to an early lead against the Scots on Wednesday night and never looked back, claiming a 4-1 win at Maryville College (Tenn.).

The win ended a two-game slide for the Eagles, who improved to 5-2-0 overall this season with the victory.  In the process, Emory dealt Maryville its first loss of the campaign, as the Scots fell to 2-1-1 on the year.

Junior Michael Rheaume put the Eagles on the board in the first half, scoring his second goal of the season in the 29th minute.  The score would remain 1-0 until early in the second half, when sophomore Nick Schook scored his first goal of the season off an Andrew Jones assist in the 49th minute, bolstering the Eagles' lead to 2-0.  It was the second assist of the year for Jones.

After Maryville scored a 56th minute goal to cut the Eagles' lead in half, Schook notched his second goal of the game in the 64th minute, scoring after a pass from junior Dylan Price, who earned his second assist of the year on the play.  Emory freshman Max Gomas would cap off the Eagles' scoring, registering his second goal of the season in the 75th minute off the second assist of the year from freshman Jason Andrejchak.

Sophomore Abe Hannigan played all 90 minutes in goal for Emory, making four saves during the contest to improve to 5-2-0 on the year and lower his goals-against average to 1.17.

The Eagles finished the game with a 14-12 advantage in shots, including a 9-5 edge in shots on goal.

The Eagles will open a season-long four game home stand with a 1:00 PM match against Berry College on Saturday, September 21st at the Woodruff P.E. Center.
