Second Half Dooms Emory in 2-0 Loss to Berry

The Emory University Men's Soccer Team allowed a pair of second-half goals to Berry College on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-0 to the Vikings at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

The loss drops Emory to 5-3-0 on the season, while Berry improved to 3-4-1.  The Eagles suffered the defeat despite outshooting the Vikings 18-8 in the game, including an 8-5 edge in shots on goal.

The Eagles and the Vikings played a scoreless first half of soccer, with Emory holding a 6-3 advantage in total shots, and a 4-1 edge in shots on goal after the first 45 minutes.

However, Berry got on the board just four minutes into the start of the second half, when Kyle Fitting deflected a shot off an Emory defender and past keeper Abe Hannigan for his first goal of the season.  Emory continued to press on the attack, but Berry was able to buffer its lead in the 81st minute, when Zak Wallingford scoring his third goal of the season to secure the victory.

Junior co-captain Dylan Price led the attack with a game-high seven shots, including five on goal. 

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, September 25th, continuing its four-game home stand against Birmingham-Southern College at 7:00 PM.
