Emory University sophomore goalkeeper Abe Hannigan was named the University Athletic Association's (UAA) Defensive Athlete of the Week for Men's Soccer, following his performance during the Eagles' 2-0 upset road victory against the 23rd-ranked University of Chicago on Saturday.
Hannigan made a season-high five saves, including three in the second half, en route to recording the shutout, his fourth clean sheet of the season. With the win, the goalkeeper improved his season record to 8-3-1, while lowering his goals-against average to 1.08 and raising his save percentage to .729.
Hannigan and the Eagles raised their record to 1-0-1 in University Athletic Association (UAA) matches this season, and to 8-3-1 overall. Emory will return to action on Friday, hosting New York University at 5:00 PM at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.
