Price & Hannigan Named UAA Men’s Soccer Athletes of the Week

After helping lead the team to a pair of home University Athletic Association (UAA) victories last weekend, Emory University junior Dylan Price and sophomore Abe Hannigan were named the conference's Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week, respectively.

Price was the UAA's leading scorer in conference play last week, notching a combined three goals during wins over New York University and Brandeis University.  On Friday, Price scored the game-winning goal in the 34th minute in a 2-0 win against New York University.  He finished the game leading all players with five shots and three shots on goal.  On Sunday, the Emory co-captain led the squad to a 3-1 upset over 12th-ranked Brandeis, scoring on a header in the 19th minute to knot the score at one goal apiece, and extending the Eagles' lead to two goals with an insurance score in the 53rd-minute.  He again led all players with three shots on goal, and all Eagles in the game with five shots.

Price is the top scorer in the UAA in 2013 with 10 goals and 24 points, including a conference-best four goals and nine points in UAA matches.  In addition, he is now tied for 14th in school history with 29 career goals, 19th with 66 career points, and third with 11 career game-winning goals.  This was first UAA Athlete of the Week honor this season, and the second of his career.

Hannigan earned his fifth shutout of the season during Emory's win over New York University on Friday, making three saves during the contest.  On Sunday, the goalkeeper recorded a season-high six saves against Brandeis University, the 17th-best offense in the country to start the week, as Emory earned a 3-1 win over the Judges.  Hannigan, who has played all but 14 minutes in goal this season for Emory, lowered his goals-against average to 1.00, while raising his save percentage to .750.  In addition, he leads all UAA goalkeepers in GAA (0.47) and save percentage (.895) in UAA contests.  This was the second-straight week Hannigan has been named the UAA Athlete of the Week.

With the wins, Emory improved to 10-3-1 overall this season, and remained in first place in the UAA with a 3-0-1 conference record.  The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, facing Covenant College in a non-conference game.

The following Eagles have been named UAA Athletes of the Week for the 2013 men's soccer season:
