Matt Sherr led the Emory University defensive unit that limited 17th-ranked Washington to six shots in the game including just one on goal as the Eagles went on to win 1-0 to remain perfect in UAA play and extended the team's winning streak to six games. Sherr had Emory's first real scoring opportunity in the 80th minute, taking the ball almost the length of the field and getting off a shot. A minute later, Sherr helped set up the winning goal, dishing a prefect touch pass to Scott Haley who in turned passed it to Meyer who scored the game-winner.
