Senior defender Matt Sherr of the Emory University men’s soccer team was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III South Atlantic All-Region First Team as announced by the organization on Thursday morning.
This marks the second time Sherr has been honored by the NSCAA in his career after he was named to the All-Region Third Team as a sophomore. He was selected to the First Team All-UAA earlier this season and was recognized as a CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team selection for the first time in his career after being named Academic All-District for the second straight season.
Sherr posted career-highs with four goals and 10 points during the year and anchored the defensive unit that ranked 42nd in the country with a 0.73 goals-against average. He was the lone Eagle to start in all 17 contests and became the program’s all-time leader in minutes played with 6,487. Two of his four tallies were game-winners for Emory in wins over Huntingdon and Rochester. He was named the UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week twice in 2015 on October 12th and November 9th.
