Emory Men's Soccer Cruise Past Birmingham-Southern, 3-0

The Emory University Men's Soccer team improved to 4-2 on the season Saturday afternoon, blanking Birmingham-Southern College by a score of 3-0 at the Woodruff PE Center.

The Eagles were in full control all afternoon, peppering shots early and often and finishing with a 25-7 margin, including a 12-1 edge in the first half. Junior Moustafa Khattab paced the offensive attack with six total shots with three being on target.

Emory held a 9-0 advantage in the shots department before Khattab broke through with the first goal of the contest in the 24th minute, firing home a free kick into the upper right corner.

The score remained 1-0 until the 70th minute when senior Michael Carragher beat the Panthers' goalkeeper on a penalty kick after classmate Christian Meyer was taken down by a slide tackle inside the box.

Following his two-goal performance on Wednesday night, sophomore Keegan McCombie once again scored for the Eagles with a goal in the 81st minute. McCombie beat a pair of Panther defenders for possession of a Max Mehlman cross outside the six before slotting one through the legs of BSC's Marvin Castellanos.

Freshman Cole Gallagher moved to 2-1 between the posts, making one save as he collected his second shutout of the season.

Emory travels to Maryville, Tennessee Wednesday night for a meeting with the Maryville Scots. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM eastern time.
