Title: Goalkeeper Coach

Diarmund McGuigan was named the goalkeeper coach for the Emory University Men's Soccer Team, effective for the start of the 2014 campaign.

During his first season with the team McGuigan helped coach Abe Hannigan to one of the best seasons by a keeper in the program’s history.  Hannigan earned an all-University Athletic Association Honorable Mention, while finishing the year 32nd among Division III keepers with a 0.635 GAA and 104th with a .803 save percentage.  His eight individual shutouts during the year were the second-most in the program’s history, and his goals-against average was the fourth-lowest seasonal mark ever by an Eagle.

McGuigan comes to Emory after serving as the Director of Goalkeeping for Centennial High School from 2008-14, working as an Assistant Coach on both the Boys and Girls varsity teams.  He was named the Boys Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association on four separate occasions, and helped lead the squad to a 103-37-2 mark during his time there. McGuigan has also worked with the Darlington Soccer Academy and the Ralph Lundy Soccer Academy, in addition Concorde Fire and Alpharetta Ambush Soccer Clubs.

McGuigan attended Presbyterian College, where he played from 2005-07.  He is currently pursuing his degree in Business Management at Georgia State University, where he will graduate in the Fall of 2014.  McGuigan has his NSCAA National Goalkeeping diploma.
