Rubesch begins his 19th year as Emory men's soccer coach in 2006 with a career record of 225-93-22, a winning percentage of .694. He has guided the Eagles to eight NCAA tournament appearances and five University Athletic Association (UAA) championships.

Rubesch picked up the 200th victory of his college coaching career Sept. 4, 2004, with a 1-0 win against Methodist (N.C.). His 69.4 winning percentage at the start of the 2006 season places him 28th among active Division III coaches. He is 38th among all active Division III coaches with 225 wins.

Rubesch has been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as the regional "Coach of the Year" in 1988, 1989 and 1991. He and his assistants were recognized by the University Athletic Association as its "Coaching Staff of the Year" in 1988, 1989, 1996, 1998 and 2003.

Rubesch took over Emory men's team in 1988 and directed the team to the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. He was the team's assistant coach from 1984-87 when it received its two previous bids to the NCAA tournament. Rubesch also directed Emory women's soccer program in its first two years of existence (1986-87).

Before Emory, he coached boys and girls soccer at Atlanta's St. Pius High School from 1981-84. His boys' teams compiled a 40-6-9 record and made three consecutive trips to the semifinals of the Georgia High School Association state championship.

Rubesch earned his bachelor's degree in 1980 from Erskine College (S.C.), where he played on nationally ranked soccer teams, including the 1977 squad that finished fourth in the NAIA national tournament.

He holds a United States Soccer Federation "A" Coaching License and is a USYSA Region III staff coach. Rubesch has coached in the Georgia Olympic Development Program since 1987. He is the head coach of the Georgia '87 team that advanced to the final four of the national championship in 2005. He also is the assistant coach for the Olympic Development '91 team in Region III.

Rubesch is the regional chair for the Scholar-Athlete Team selected by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Rubesch and his wife, Jean, have one daughter, Justine, and two sons, Bradley and Kurt.
