Patrick Augustyn

Emory University junior Patrick Augustyn won the National Championship in the 200-yard butterfly at this weekend’s NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships.  Augustyn won the event with a time of 1:46.87, besting the previous school record by 1.63 seconds.  He earned individual all-America honors in the 100-yard butterfly as well, with a fourth-place finish in a time of 48.55 seconds.  Augustyn was also part of two all-America relays, as the Eagles’ 400-yard medley relay finished fourth with a school-record time of 3:18.88, while the 200-yard medley relay finished third with a time of 1:30.91.  He capped off his meet with a 13th-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:51.60 in the preliminaries, good for an all-America honorable mention.  Augustyn scored 54.5 points during the meet for Emory, helping the Eagles to a third-place team finish.
