Emory University junior Paul Weinstein was
named the Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the University
Athletic Association (UAA), based on his performance during the
second-ranked Eagles’ dual meet at Wingate University last
weekend.
Weinstein recorded the best time by an Eagle this season in the
1,000-yard freestyle, finishing second in the event with a time of
9:47.51. He also claimed fourth place in the 500-yard
freestyle, the best finish by an Eagle in the event, with a time of
4:49.93. Weinstein scored six points for the Eagles at the
meet, but Emory fell to the 11th-ranked Bulldogs,
131-90.
The conference Athlete of the Week honor marked the first of
Weinstein’s career. The two-time all-American becomes
the fourth member of the Emory men’s swimming and diving team
to be honored by the UAA this season.
The Eagles will return to action this weekend, as Emory will host
NCAA Division I Clemson University on Saturday, February
5th at 1:00 PM in its final dual meet of the 2010-11
