Emory University sophomore Peter O’Brien
was named the Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate
Swimmer-of-the-Week Honors for Division III, based on his
performance during the Eagles’ dual meet against Clemson
University last Saturday.
O’Brien picked up an event victory in the 200-yard
breaststroke, winning the event with an NCAA ‘B’ cut
time of 2:06.14. He also finished fourth in the 100-yard
breaststroke with a mark of 58.36 seconds, and claimed third as
part of the Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team
(1:34.18).
O’Brien scored a total of 11.5 points during the meet, but
the second-ranked Eagles suffered a 153-138 loss to the NCAA
Division I Tigers. Emory will return to action on February
16th, as the Eagles will travel to the University of
Rochester for the University Athletic Association (UAA)
Championships.
