Emory University junior Ryan Bass was a part of three ‘A’ cut performances, while facing mostly Division I competition at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational last weekend. Bass recorded an individual ‘A’ cut in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing first with a time of 20.38 seconds, just a hundredth of a second off his own school-record time. He swam the third leg of Emory’s 200-yard freestyle relay team, setting meet and school records with an automatic qualifying time of 1:20.84 en route to winning the event. Bass was also the anchor leg of the Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team, which finished first with an ‘A’ cut time of 1:30.01. In addition, Bass recorded a ‘B’ cut time in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 45.94 seconds, good for an eighth place finish, and swam the second leg of the Eagles' winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:00.79, 'B' cut). The seven-time all-American helped the Eagles finish first in the team standings at the Miami Invitational.
