Trevor Burke Claims All-UAA Honors on Day One of UAA Championships

Freshman Trevor Burke opened the 2017 University Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships for the Eagles on Wednesday night with an All-UAA finish in the 1-meter, 11-dives event. The championship meet is being held at the Ratner Athletic Center on the campus of the University of Chicago.

Burke posted a personal-best mark in the finals with a score of 452.25, edging out New York University's Dominic Lemieux (450.65) to finish third. Burke advanced to the finals after registering a score of 412.50 during the morning session, the sixth-best preliminary mark. NYU's Connor Brisson set a UAA record at 586.55 to take home the meet's first title.

Burke's All-UAA showing puts the Eagles in fourth place in the overall standings with 27 points entering Thursday's slate of competition, trailing NYU (78), Carnegie Mellon (61) and Case Western Reserve (37). Events on Thursday include the 200 Freestyle Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle, 400 Medley Relay and women's 3-meter diving. Preliminaries get underway at 11:00 AM EST with the finals to follow at 6:30 PM EST.
