Emory University swimmers Marissa Bergh, Hayes Burdette-Sapp, Marcela Sanchez-Aizcorbe and Andrew Wilson have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large Team Thursday afternoon as announced by the organization.

Bergh makes her first career appearance on the Academic All-District Team after helping the Eagles to their eighth consecutive NCAA Division III Championship and 10th overall in March. Bergh was crowned a National Champion in four relay events: 200 Medley, 200 Freestyle (DIII record), 800 Freestyle (DIII record) and 400 Freestyle (DIII record), was an All-American in the both the 50 and 100 Freestyle and was an Honorable Mention All-American in the 200 Freestyle. She finishes her decorative career as an eight-time national champion and a 21-time All-American, both totals placing her second all-time in program history, and a three-time Honorable Mention All-American. Bergh was a nine-time University Athletic Association champion, a 13-time All-UAA performer and is a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. She completed her degree in Biology with a 3.69 grade-point average.

Sanchez-Aizcorbe makes her second career appearance on the Academic All-District team after earning both Academic All-District and Academic All-America Second Team honors as a junior. Like Bergh, she was a four-time National Champion in 2017 as Emory captured the team championship, winning titles in the 200 Medley, 200 Freestyle (DIII record), 400 Medley (DIII record) and 400 Freestyle (DIII record) relays. Sanchez-Aizcorbe added All-America honors in both the 100 Butterfly and 100 Freestyle events and was an Honorable Mention All-American in the 50 Freestyle. She wrapped up her impressive career as an eight-time National Champion, a 16-time All-American and was a five-time Honorable Mention All-American. In addition, Sanchez-Aizcorbe was an eight-time All-UAA performer including a six-time UAA Champion and was a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. She completed her degrees in both Finance and Political Science with a 3.81 GPA and was the recipient of the Bridges Award at the annual Emory Athletics Awards Banquet in April.

Burdette-Sapp, an Academic All-America Third Team selection in 2016, makes his second career appearance on the Academic All-District team. He was part of the 400 Freestyle Relay team that repeated as National Champions in 2017, touching in a school-record setting time of 2:56.68. He earned All-America honors as well as part of the 800 Freestyle Relay which finished fourth overall. In his career, Burdette-Sapp was a two-time National Champion, four-time All-American, a 2015 Honorable Mention All-American in the 800 Freestyle Relay, a three-time UAA Champion and a five-time All-Association finisher as well as a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. He earned degrees in both Physics and Business with a 3.73 GPA.

No stranger to the CoSIDA Academic Awards program, Wilson rounds out the Emory honorees with his third Academic All-District selection of his career. In 2015, Wilson joined elite company as he became just the fifth student-athlete in Emory Athletics history to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American of the Year. In 2017, Wilson put an exclamation point on a marvelous career as he helped lead the Emory men to their first team title in program history. Wilson was named the CSCAA Swimmer of the Year after winning national championships in five events: 200 IM (1:44.18), 100 Breast (50.94), 200 Breast (1:50.80), 200 Medley Relay (1:26.14) and 400 Medley Relay (3:10.51) with all five times representing Division III records. The Physics and Applied Mathematics double major finished his illustrious Emory swimming career as a two-time CSCAA National Swimmer of the Year, a 10-time National Champion, 17-time All-American, two-time UAA Swimmer of the Year, 15-time UAA Champion, 20-time All-UAA finisher and is a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. He was awarded the Bridges Award at the annual Emory Athletics Awards Banquet in April.

The Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

All four swimmers will now be placed on the national ballot for a chance to be named an Academic All-American. The CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 6th.
