Ren Watt Completes NCAA Regional Sweep on Second Day in San Antonio

Emory University divers concluded competition at the NCAA Diving Regionals on Saturday with sophomore Ren Watt picking up her second regional title in as many days.

Watt wrapped up her stellar weekend in San Antonio as she made it a clean sweep on the second and final day of competition at the Alamo Heights Natatorium. After earning the win on Friday in the 1-meter, Watt was back at it again on Saturday as she topped the 22-diver field in the 3-meter event with a score of 468.40. Watt was the only diver in the field to average over 40 per 11 rounds, doing so with an average of 42.58. Her best round came in the sixth when she earned 55.35 with her Inward 2 ½ Somersault Tuck.

Senior Tess Klugherz joined Watt on the 3-meter on Saturday and came away with a 12th place finish, posting a score of 355.50. Klugherz finished in qualifying position on Friday with her third place effort in the 1-meter.

For the men, senior Alex York represented the Blue & Gold as he finished 16th in the field of 27 divers in the 1-meter. York, who placed eighth on Friday in the 3-meter, recorded a score of 372.00 on the lower board, averaging 33.82 over his 11 rounds.

Fifteen divers from the San Antonio regional will be awarded NCAA allocations for the upcoming NCAA Championships, eight women and seven men. Allocations will be made official in the coming days.
