Ross Spock, no familiar to the Emory University Swimming & Diving program, completed his second season as an assistant coach on Jon Howell’s coaching staff in 2016-17.

He has seen the women's team win National Championships in each of his two seasons on the staff while the men's team captured its first-ever National Championship in 2017.

In his first season with the team in 2015-16, he helped the women’s team to their seventh consecutive national championship while the men recorded a third place finish at nationals. In addition, the Emory women's team earned six event titles including a perfect 5-for-5 in relay events, a first in school history, while the men's team registered three event championships. Both Emory teams also claimed University Athletic Association titles in his first season with the program.

Spock joined Howell’s staff following an illustrious career in the pool. From 2010-2014, Spock earned a program-record 21 All-American certificates, was a three-time national champion, a 15-time UAA champion and an 18-time All-UAA finisher. During his career, the Eagles men’s team finished in the top-five all four years including three third-place finishes.

As a senior, Spock won all three of his national titles including an individual event championship in the 100 Backstroke. He won the event with a school-record time of 47.62, a record that still stands to this day.

Ross earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Emory in the spring of 2014.
