Sophomore Chris Goodwin went undefeated in both singles and doubles over the weekend in helping the Eagles to wins in the second and third rounds of the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championships.  In Emory’s 6-0 second-round triumph over Wilkes University, Goodwin joined forces with senior Chris Jordan to post an 8-5 win over the Colonels’ duo of Chris Cozzillo and Jeremy Nolt at No. 1 doubles.  Goodwin then registered a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Cozzillo at No. 2 singles.  The following day, Goodwin and Jordan came away with an 8-1 verdict over Washington & Lee’s Jonathan Gaffney and Alex Brooke at No. 1 doubles.  Goodwin then capped off his weekend with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Mac Davis at No. 2 singles helping the No. 2-ranked Eagles subdue the Generals by a 5-0 margin.

Goodwin stands 21-7 in singles action and 20-11 in doubles (8-1 with Jordan).

With the victory over W&L, Emory, 16-7 on the season, advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals where it will play Amherst on May 25 in Oberlin, Ohio.
