Emory sophomore Chris Goodwin advanced to the
finals of the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles
Championships, becoming the second straight Eagle to accomplish
that feat.
Goodwin opened the singles portion of the Championships with
a straight-set win over Scott Sundstrom of Luther College
before registering a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 decision against Nick Lebedoff
of Williams College in the Round of 16. Goodwin continued his
winning ways in the quaterfinals, getting the better of Andy Peters
of Middlebury College, 7-6, 6-3, with the triumph sending him to
the semifinals where he battled to a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 decision over
Austin Chafetz of Amherst. Goodwin saw his quest for the
title end in the finals when John Watts of Washington University
came away with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Chris concluded the 2009-10 campaign with an overall record of 25-9
in singles action.
