Junior Chris Goodwin, the No. 9-ranked singles
player in Division III, went 2-0 in both singles and doubles last
week in helping the No. 3-ranked Eagles to a pair of
victories. Playing the No. 2 singles post, Goodwin defeated
Juan Guerra of Denison, 10-0, after recording a 9-8 triumph with
teammate Will Humphreys over the Big Red’s Matt McErlean and
Tyler Cempre at No. 1 doubles. Goodwin continued his steady
play on Saturday, defeating Sam Miles of No. 19 DePauw, 6-2, 6-2,
in singles. Earlier in the match, a 7-2 Emory triumph,
Goodwin and Humphreys notched an 8-2 decision over the
Tigers’ Noah Swiler and Andrew Kahn.
Goodwin stands 14-2 in singles and 13-3 in doubles this spring.
