The No. 3-ranked Emory men's tennis team captured its third
straight match Saturday as it defeated No. 19 DePauw University,
7-2, at the Woodruff PE Center. The victory upped the Eagles’
record to 14-2 while the Tigers slipped to 8-2.
Emory held a 2-1 edge after doubles with juniors Chris Goodwin and
Will Humphreys winning at the No. 1 spot, and senior Dillon Pottish
and freshman Simon Lavoie-Perusse taking home a victory at No.
3.
The Eagles won five of the six singles points, all in straight
sets. Pottish, the No. 1-ranked singles player in Division III,
boosted his record to 16-0 this spring with a methodical 6-0, 6-0,
decision over Michael Rardon. Junior Chris Goodwin recorded his 14
th victory in 16 decisions at No. 2, bettering Sam Miles
by a 6-2, 6-2 count. Sophomore Noah Simonson clinched the outcome
of the match at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Reid
Garlock. Other Emory singles winners included Eric Rothschild at
No. 5 and Lavoie-Perusse at No. 4.
Emory returns to action on Wednesday (Mar. 23) when it hosts No.
13-ranked Johns Hopkins at 2:30 p.m.
