Dillon Pottish Named UAA Tennis Player Of The Week

Emory University junior Dillon Pottish (East Quogue, NY) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Tennis Player of the Week after going undefeated in both singles and doubles over the course of five matches.  It marks the fifth time this year and seventh during his career that he has captured the honor.

Pottish, the No. 1-ranked singles player in Division III, posted wins over opponents from Azusa Pacific and Redlands at the No. 1 spot before keying Emory’s first-place effort at the Stag-Hen Invitational hosted by Claremont-Mudd Scripps.  He defeated Vassar’s Ben Guzick (6-1, 6-2), in Emory’s first-round 9-0 win and joined forces with Colin Egan to notch an 8-0 verdict at No. 3 doubles.  In the Eagles’ 6-3 win over No. 20 Pomona-Pitzer, Pottish earned a 6-4, 6-0,  singles triumph against Tommy Meyer and an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.  In the Invitational’s championship match, a 7-2 win against No. 3 CMS, Pottish came out on top in a hard-fought 6-3, 6-7, 10-6 battle against Alex Lane in singles and also earned an 8-1 at No. 3 doubles with Egan over Russell Brockett and MacCahill.

Pottish owns a 14-0 singles record this spring and is 23-1 overall.

Emory, 12-2 on the year, returns to action on Tuesday (Mar. 15) when it hosts No. 25 Denison.
