No. 2 Emory Men's Tennis Drops ABAC

The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team remained undefeated Wednesday afternoon as it recorded a decisive victory over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at the Woodruff PE Center.  The Eagles ran their record to 15-0 after posting a 9-0 verdict over the Stallions who slipped to 8-6.

The Eagles emerged with a 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles for the ninth time this spring.  The No. 2 tandem of junior Elliott Kahler and freshman Ian Wagner upped their record to 12-2 at that position (13-2 overall) following an 8-4 triumph.  The senior duo of Chris Goodwin and Will Humphreys scrapped their way to an 8-6 verdict against Oliver Snaider and Danilo Faria at No. 1, their fourth win in five outings this spring.  Senior Dillon Pottish and freshman Brian Kowalski accounted for the other point with an 8-2 outcome at the No. 3 position, boosting their spring record to 5-0.

In singles, Goodwin at No. 2, Wagner at No. 4, along with freshmen Eric Halpern and Alex Ruderman at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, all came away with straight set victories.  It marked Goodwin's 96th career win, just three shy of tying the school mark of 99.  Pottish had to rally for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Snaider at No. 1, raising his record to 14-1 this spring, 23-2 overall.  Kowalski closed out the whitewash with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 decision over Taylor Hardy at No. 3.

Emory returns to action on Saturday (Apr. 21) when it travels to the University of the South to battle Rhodes College at 1:00 p.m. and Sewanee at 4:00 p.m.
