Emory Men's Tennis Hosts AUM & Washington and Lee

The top-ranked Emory men's tennis team continues a season-opening four-match homestand when it plays host to NAIA power Auburn-Montgomery on Friday (Feb. 15) before entertaining region foe Washington & Lee on Tuesday, Feb. 19.  Both contests will be held at the Woodruff PE Center Indoor Courts and start at 2:00 pm.

The Eagles stand 2-0 after coming away with a pair of 9-0 victories over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Oglethorpe University last Friday.  Sophomore Eric Halpern (Rye Brook, NY) captured both of his No. 1 singles matches, defeating ABAC's
Kamil Oliver Snaider, 6-7, 7-5, 6-3, and Oglethorpe's Ethan Motz, 6-2, 6-0.   Senior Elliot Kahler (Carrollton, GA), playing at No. 4 singles, toppled Parker Woodall of ABAC, 6-2, 6-2, before defeating OU's Ben Hirsch, 6-1, 6-2.  Kahler also recorded a pair of triumphs at No. 1 doubles where he joined forces with sophomore Ian Wagner (Columbus, OH).

Auburn-Montgomery, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA ranks, stands 2-1 after earning a 9-0 decision over Martin Methodist last Saturday.  Sophomore Nicolas Pinones-Haltenhoff and Bence Toth return to the lineup after garnering first- and second-team All-America status, respectively, last year after helping the Seantors to a national fifth-place finish.

Washington & Lee, picked as the team to beat in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, returns six letterwinners from the 2012 squad that posted a 16-5 dual record.  A key veteran for the Generals will be two-time singles All-American Hayden White, who was named the ODAC Co-Player of the Year in 2012.  W&L will meet Elon (Feb. 16) and Oglethorpe (Feb. 18) before taking on Emory.
