The No. 3-ranked Emory men's tennis team returned to the Woodruff PE Center Saturday afternoon and topped No. 25 Mary Washington. The Eagles of head coach John Browning raised their record to 9-5 following a 6-3 triumph.
Mary Washington held a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match. Senior Elliot Kahler and sophomore Ian Wagner earned Emory's point at the No. 1 spot with a tight 9-7 verdict over Donato Rizzolo and Evan Charles, raising their spring record to 12-2.
Emory regrouped and captured five of the six singles points, four coming in straight sets. Sophomore Alex Ruderman bested Alex Blakhi, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 while freshman Rafe Mosetick topped Charles at No. 3, 6-1, 6-3, upping his won-lost ledger to 10-4. Kahler at No. 4, freshman Will Adams at No. 5 and junior Simon Lavoie-Perusse at No. 6 were the other Emory winners.
