Emory Men's Tennis Tops Carnegie Mellon In UAA Semifinals -- Battles Wash U For Title on Sunday

The No. 3-ranked Emory men's tennis has advanced to the title match at the University Athletic Association Championships following a hard fought semifinal-round victory over Carnegie Mellon on Saturday.  The Eagles raised their overall record to 14-5 following a 5-4 decision over the Tartans who slipped to 13-6.

Emory trailed by a 2-1 count following the doubles action but tied the match after freshman Rafe Mosetick posted a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Yuvraj Kumar at No. 4.  Sophomore Ian Wagner  provided the Eagles with a brief lead after earning a 6-2, 6-2 verdict over Duke Miller at the No. 3 spot. After the Tartans knotted things up following their win at No. 2,  senior Elliot Kahler allowed Emory to regain the lead after battling to a 6-2, 6-3 triumph against Kosuke Hasewaga at No. 5.  Freshman Will Adams then clinched the deciding point after bettering Harsha Rao, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.

Sunday's championship will pit Emory against No. 14-ranked Washington University (16-5).  The Bears defeated Case Western, 7-2, in Saturday's semirfinals.  It will mark the eighth straight year that the Eagles and Bears have met in the finals.
