Emory Men's Tennis Rally Comes Up Short vs. Wash U In UAA Championships Match

The No. 3-ranked Emory men's tennis team saw its bid for a fourth straight league title come up short on Sunday, as a late rally came up shy against No. 14 Washington University in the UAA Championships match.  The Bears upped their overall record to 17-5 (3-0 UAA) following a 5-4 decision over the Eagles who now stand 14-6 overall (2-1 UAA).   The event was held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

Emory faced a 2-1 deficit after doubles, with the No. 2 team of Jackson Isaacs and Ayush Bajoria earning the Eagles' point.  Sophomore Ian Wagner came away with a 6-3, 6-3 outcome over Tim Noack at No. 3 singles while the Bears notched victories at the No. 1 and 2 positions en route to a 4-2 lead in the match.

Freshman Will Adams began the Emory comeback bid with a come-from-behind 2-6,
6-1, 6-2, verdict over Kareem Farah at No. 6, his sixth victory in seven decisions at that spot.  Freshman Rafe Mosetick turned in an impressive and emotional effort, battling cramps and sickness late his clash against Tyler Kratky at No. 4, claiming a three-set tiebreaker win, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3) that knotted the match score at 4-4 while raising his record to 15-5 this spring.  While Mosetick and his opponent were dueling, Emory senior Elliot Kahler was contending with some physical challenges while being engaged in a battle of attrition against Gary Parizher at No. 5 that eventually saw Parizher posting a tiebreaker win, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (1).

Emory will now wait until May 6 when the pairings for the NCAA Division III Championships will be announced.
