Junior Eric Halpern became the seventh Emory player in the
past eight years to win the USTA/ITA South Region Singles
Championship, winning six matches en route to the crown.
Halpern had to defeat teammates over his last three matches in
winning the title, freshman Rocco English in the quarterfinals,
classmate Ian Wagner (1-6, 6-4, 7-5) in the semifinals and
sophomore Rafe Mosetick (3-6, 7-6, 6-2) in the finals.
By virtue of his championship performance, Halpern captures
All-America honors and will advance to the ITA National Small
College Championship, Oct. 10-13, in Fort Myers,
Florida.
