Emory Men's Tennis Tops Sewanee

The No. 7-ranked Emory men's tennis team captured its second straight win on Saturday afternoon, defeating region foe Sewanee at the Woodruff PE Center.  The Eagles boosted their spring record to 9-4 following a 7-2 decision over the Tigers who slipped to 4-5.

Emory held a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match with the No. 1 team of juniors Alex Ruderman and Ian Wagner chalking up an 8-1 verdict over Rand Jackson and Alex Cooper, while the No. 3 duo of junior Eric Halpern and Brandon Lee emerged with an 8-2 triumph over Avery Schober and Blake Wilde.

The Eagles battled to victories in five singles matches, with Ruderman upending Schober, 6-4, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot for his 11th win in 13 decisions.  Halpern came away with a 6-4, 6-1, outcome over Connor Winkler at No. 2, upping his record at that position to 5-2, 8-3 overall.  Other Emory singles winners included sophomore Rafe Mosetick at No. 3, senior Nick Szczurek at No. 5 and sophomore Will Adams at No. 6.

Emory returns to action on Friday (Mar. 28) when it entertains Case Western Reserve University in a 1:00 pm start.
