Alex Ruderman Named UAA Men's Tennis Player Of The Week

Emory junior Alex Ruderman has been named the University Athletic Association Men's Tennis Player of the Week after helping the Eagles to three wins over top-10 ranked opponents.

Ruderman posted a 3-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 2-1 slate at No. 1 doubles as Emory  raised its spring record to 12-4.

Ruderman came through with the match's clinching point in a 5-1 triumph over No. 8 Case Western, defeating Christopher Krimbill, the No. 1-ranked player in the Central Region, 7-5, 7-5. Earlier in the match against the Spartans, Ruderman and junior Ian Wagner combined for a 9-8 victory over CWRU's Louis Stuerke and Krimbill at No. 1 doubles that gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead in the match.

The following day, Ruderman was one of four Emory victors in singles play, topping Alex Johnston of No. 10 Middlebury, 7-6, 6-4, in a 5-4 Eagles' win.

Ruderman closed out the weekend by providing the clinching point in the team's 5-4 outcome over No. 9 Kenyon College, recording a come-from-behind 6-7, 6-1, 6-2, decision over Michael Razumovsky at No. 1 singles, raising his spring record to 14-2.  Ruderman and Wagner also came through with an 8-3 win over Sam Geier and Tim Rosensteel at No. 1 doubles.

Emory, ranked No. 7 nationally, returns to action on Saturday, April 5, when it hosts No. 5 Johns Hopkins.
