Emory Men's Duo To Compete At NCAA D-III Singles Championships

The Emory men's tennis program will have two representatives in this year's NCAA Singles Championships with juniors Eric Halpern and Alex Ruderman taking part in the competition.  The NCAA D-III Singles and Doubles Championship will be held May 22-24 at the Biszanta Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California, and will be preceded by the team championships, May 19-21.

Ruderman, who will be playing in his first Singles Championship, has held down the No. 1 spot in the Eagles' lineup for the entire spring season and currently posts a won-lost record of 20-3.  He is ranked as the No. 1-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South Region and was recently named First Team All-University Athletic Association.

Halpern, who will be playing in his second Singles Championship, has compiled a spring mark of 14-6 (21-8 on the year) and has mainly held down the No. 2 position in the singles lineup.   He is the No. 4-ranked singles player in the Atlantic South Region.

Emory has had three players win NCAA Singles Championships, Michael Goodwin in 2009, Chris Goodwin in 2011 and Dillon Pottish in 2012.

The individual championships shall consist of 32 singles players. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships are based on win-lost record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes.
