Emory Men's Tennis Blanks Sewanee

The No. 2-ranked Emory men's tennis team made the most of its only action of the week, rolling to a victory at Sewanee on Wednesday afternoon.  The Eagles won for the seventh time in their last eight outings and upped their spring record to 13-5 following a 9-0 triumph over the Tigers who saw an eight-match win streak come to an end while falling to 13-5.

Emory jumped out to a 3-0 edge after doubles with the senior duo of Alex Ruderman and Ian Wagner boosting their spring slate to 10-6 (17-7 overall) with an 8-3 verdict over Alex Cooper and Eric Roddy.  Also coming away with wins were junior Rafe Mosetick and freshman David Omsky at No. 2 and sophomore Aman Manji and Scott Rubinstein at No. 3.

Emory notched five straight-set wins in the singles with Ruderman posting a 6-1, 7-6 triumph over Roddy at No. 2, while Wagner crafted a 6-3, 6-1, win vs. Connor Winkler at No. 3.  It represented Wagner's 85th career win in singles, good for seventh place on the program's all-time chart, while Ruderman claimed his 77th career triumph, good for 13th place on the Eagles' all-time list.  Mosetick, playing in the No. 1 spot for the first time during his Emory tenure, bested Avery Schober, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1, raising his spring mark to 16-1.  Accounting for the team's other singles points were sophomore Josh Goodman at No. 4, Manji at No. 5 and Omsky at No. 6.

Emory returns to action next Tuesday (Apr. 21) when it plays at Georgia Gwinnett College, the No. 1-ranked team in the NAIA ranks.
