The No. 4-ranked Emory men's tennis team got off to a strong start in postseason action on Saturday, rolling to a second-round win over Juniata College in the Lexington, Virginia, Regional hosted by Washington & Lee University. The Eagles raised their record to 17-6 following a 5-0 decision over JC who finished off their year at 17-5.
Emory took immediate command of the match winning all three doubles points, dropping just three games in the process. The No. 2 team of junior Rafe Mosetick and freshman David Omsky earned the first point of the day by beating Sam Brumbaugh and Logan Moore by an 8-1 count for their 22nd win in 26 decisions. Senior Eric Halpern and freshman Scott Rubinstein put Emory up by a 2-0 margin with an 8-0 outcome at No. 3. Seniors Alex Ruderman and Ian Wagner closed out the sweep with an 8-2 triumph against Dean Polisena and Matyas Kohout at No. 1.
In singles, Wagner made short work of Moore at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0, for his 18th victory of the year, while sophomore Aman Manji closed out the contest with his 6-0, 6-0 win over Brumbaugh at No. 6.
Emory will meet No. 23-ranked North Carolina Wesleyan (17-5) in the regional finals on Sunday starting at 11:00 am. At stake is a berth in the national quarterfinals next week in Mason, Ohio.
