Emory senior Josh Goodman (Weston, FL) has been named the University Athletic Association Men's Tennis Player of the Week after his performance in singles against three foes from top-20 D-III programs. It is the first time in his career that he has been chosen for the award.
Goodman helped the Eagles to a 2-1 record over the weekend, going 3-0 at No. 6 singles,
raising his spring record to 9-3, 12-4 overall. Goodman recorded one of the team's three points with a 7-5, 6-4, decision over Allen Jackson of No. 4 Middlebury College. In the Eagles' 6-3 triumph at No. 15 Trinity University, he chalked up a 6-2, 6-4 outcome over Clayton Niess. Goodman closed out the weekend with a 6-3, 6-3, win over Alex Brenner of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, as the Eagles came away with a 7-2 victory over the No. 2-ranked Stags.
Emory, 10-4 this spring, returns to action on April 11 when it plays at the University of the South.
