Men's Tennis Standout Aman Manji Earns Berth On CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

Emory University senior men's tennis player Aman Manji has been recognized for his accomplishments both in the classroom and on the court by earning a spot on the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team.

Manji has been a mainstay in the singles lineup for the No. 2-ranked and NCAA Tournament bound Eagles, leading the team in wins with a 26-5 overall record, 17-4 during the spring portion of the schedule, with all of those decisions coming at the No. 1 position.  Recently named the Most Valuable Player at the University Athletic Association Tournament, Manji holds the mantle of the No. 1-ranked singles player in all of Division III. This past fall, he earned All-America honors after capturing the ITA South Region singles crown, and followed that performance by winning the D-III singles title at the ITA Oracle Cup, just the second Emory player to accomplish that feat.

Named the recipient of Emory University's Sonny Carter Scholarship as a junior, based on his academic, athletic and community achievement, Manji recently graduated with a GPA of 3.52 as a biology major.

Tennis is one of 12 sports included in the Men's At-Large category.  The others include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, volleyball water polo, and wrestling. Emory's representatives are District 5 selections from Division III institutions comprised from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.  A candidate must be a starter or key member of the team and possess a GPA of 3.30 or higher.

Manji now advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in early June.
