Men's Tennis Closes Out Month with Win at Sewanee

The Emory University men's tennis team posted a 7-2 decision over the Sewanee Tigers on Saturday morning in Sewanee, TN to bring its season record to 6-6.

The No. 11 ranked Eagles opened the match with a quick 2-1 mark thanks to their doubles performances against the Tigers. Senior Andrew Esses and sophomore Nolan Shah registered an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles and they were followed up with an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles by senior Antonio Mora and junior Samuel Dean. Senior Sahil Raina and sophomore Ryan Glanville dropped their doubles match 8-2.

Emory followed up its doubles play with strong performances in singles action with the Eagles going a combined 5-1. Shah won decisively at No. 3 singles posting a 6-0, 6-2 win over his opponent. Graduate student Santiago Suarez (6-4, 6-1) and sophomore Brandon Cohen (7-6, 6-3) both pulled out comfortable wins at No. 6 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Mora fell in a tight match at No.1 singles eventually falling to Sewanee's Noah Holsclaw 6-2, 4-6, 10-5. Esses and sophomore Sujay Sharma won at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively as a result of retirements by each of their opponents.

The Eagles return home on Saturday, April 2 at 10:00 AM where they are set to take on DePauw. Prior to the start of the match, Emory will honor its five-member graduating class.
