The Emory University men's tennis team celebrated senior day with a win early Saturday afternoon, defeating DePauw University 8-1 at the WoodPEC in Atlanta.
Prior to the start of the match, the Eagles honored the graduating class of Antonio Mora, Andrew Esses, Sahil Raina, Pushkar Shinde and Santiago Suarez with a special on-court ceremony. With the win, Emory pushes its win streak to three and now stands 7-6 overall.
The Eagles won the first eight matches on the day including a doubles sweep that took under an hour to complete. The duo of Mora and Samuel Dean led things off with an 8-2 win at the second position before Raina and Ryan Glanville followed with an 8-3 victory on court three. The Eagles' No. 1 tandem of Esses and Nolan Shah completed the sweep, taking care of business by a count of 8-5.
In singles, Suarez and Shah made quick work of their opponents to clinch the match. Suarez was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at the fifth spot with Shah posting a 6-3, 6-0 win on court three.
The Eagles went on to add wins at the top two spots with Mora winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 on court one and Esses pulling out the 6-2, 4-6, 11-9 win on court two while Raina was a three set winner at the sixth line, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.
The Eagles are set to return to action on April 9th as they have a rematch scheduled against Tennessee Wesleyan. The Bulldogs knocked off the Eagles back in February by a 5-4 margin in a match that went down to the final court.
