The Emory men's tennis team defeated Sewanee by a 7-2 margin in their first match of the spring season.
The Eagles opened the match with a sweep in doubles with wins in all three matches. Senior Andrew Esses and junior Nolan Shah started the doubles competition, posting a final result of 8-7. Junior Ryan Glanville and fifth-year Charlie James clinched the point winning the second match with their 8-4 score. In the final doubles matchup, freshman Dean Kamenev and senior Samuel Dean secured a sweep for the Eagles winning their matchup 8-6.
Emory took home four out of six singles matches against the Tigers. Esses took the first match by a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 margin. Shah followed with an impressive match with his 6-4, 6-2 decision. Kamenev and James rounded out the singles wins for the Eagles. Kamenev posted a result of 6-3, 6-2 while James posted a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
The Eagles will face Kenyon on Saturday, February 18 at 12:00 pm in Sewanee before coming back to Atlanta on Tuesday, February 21 at 2:00 pm for their home opener against Tennessee Wesleyan.
