Men's Tennis Falls to CWRU in ITA National Indoors Opening Round

The Emory University men's tennis team fell in the opening round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship to Case Western Reserve University, 5-1, Friday afternoon at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Paul, Minnesota.

With the defeat, the Eagles drop into the consolation bracket and will oppose Pomona-Pitzer College at 8:00 PM EST on Saturday while CWRU moves onto the semifinals to take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

The Spartans secured two of the three doubles points to open the match, posting 8-1 and 8-5 scores on courts one and three. The Emory pairing of graduate student Charlie James and junior Ryan Glanville earned the point on two as they defeated their opponents by an 8-6 decision.

CWRU went onto clinch the match with straight set decisions on courts one, five and six. At the conclusion, James paced the Eagles as he was leading his match on court four by a 7-5, 5-2 margin.
