Men's Tennis Beats #20 NC Wesleyan, 7-2, for Third Straight Win

The No. 2 ranked Emory University men's tennis team added another win to their resume Monday afternoon, taking down No. 20 ranked North Carolina Wesleyan by a 7-2 decision at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumnter, South Carolina. The Eagles, now having won three straight matches, improve to 13-3 overall while the Battling Bishops drop to 12-8.

Emory started Monday's match by taking two of three doubles points. Freshman Christian Liew and graduate student Justin Waldman dominated on court three with an 8-0 victory. On court one, the Eagles saw senior Ryan Glanville and senior Brandon Cohen team up for an 8-3 triumph. On court two, NCW narrowly edged out senior Nolan Shah and sophomore Dean Kamenev by an 8-6 margin.

Singles play saw the Eagles put a clamper on the win as Emory clinched wins on five of the six courts, including four via straight sets.

Glanville picked up a 6-4, 7-6 (5) decision on the No. 3 line while Waldman was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at the fourth position. Liew won his match 6-2, 6-2 on court five and junior Emilio Van Cotthem secured a 7-5, 6-0 win at the sixth spot.

Shah rounded out the Emory winners on Monday with his 5-7, 6-0, 10-4 comeback on court two.

The Eagles have two more matches on the docket before the UAA Championships at the end of the month. Next Saturday, Emory is set to battle NAIA powerhouse Tennessee Wesleyan on the road before returning to the WoodPEC for senior day festivities against Washington & Lee on Sunday, April 21.
