Emory University seniors Steve Dry and Alex Greenhouse were named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Men’s Cross Country/ Track and Field second team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Dry and Greenhouse are the 118^th and 119^th Emory student-athletes to receive Academic All-America honors, and the third and fourth Emory athletes to be named Academic All-Americans this season.

During the course of his career, Dry twice earned all-University Athletic Association (UAA) honors in both the 55-meter hurdles during the indoor season, and the 110-meter hurdles in the outdoor season.  His season-best times from this campaign include marks of 7.86 seconds in the 55-meter hurdles and 15.10 in the 110-meter hurdles.  Academically, Dry has recorded a remarkable 3.99 grade point average as a Chemistry and Religion dual major, earning a prestigious NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and the Bobby Jones Scholarship.  This was the second time Dry has been recognized as an Academic All-American, after being named to the third team in 2009.

Greenhouse recently earned his fourth career all-America certificate, finishing third overall in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  Earlier in the year, he was named the Outdoor Track Performer of the Year for the UAA after winning the 100-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles, and earned the USTFCCCA’s Regional Men’s Indoor Runner of the Year honors.  Over his career, he has amassed 10 UAA Championships and 20 all-UAA finishes.  Greenhouse has a 3.65 GPA, while majoring in Business Finance and Accounting with a minor in Economics.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a key member of the team, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director.   Athletes named to the Academic All-District First Team are then eligible to be named Academic All-America honorees.

Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
