Eagles Notch Three Provisional Marks at Georgia Invitational

The Emory University track and field team saw three of its members record provisional qualifying marks at Saturday’s Georgia Invitational in Athens, GA.

For the men, Nelson Nwannunu finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 14.36 meters, .16 longer than the NCAA provisional qualifying mark.  The distance was a personal record for the freshman, and the best mark this season by an Eagle in the event.

For the women, Jasmine McCullough earned her first career provisional qualifying mark in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 14.97 seconds, good for a ninth-place finish.  She becomes the second Eagles to qualify in the event this season, joining senior Brittany Donino.  McCullough was also Emory’s top finisher in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.60 seconds, good for a 17th-place finish, and the 200-meter dash with a 26.44 seconds for a 21st-place finish.

Also for the women, sophomore Lauren Attiah recorded a distance of 11.62 meters for a 14th-place finish in the triple jump, her fourth provisional qualifying mark in the event this season.  Attiah also finished 13th in the long jump with a distance of 5.24 meters.

Other highlights of the meet for the men included Steve Dry’s ninth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.10 seconds, Kevin Lanza’s sixth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a mark of 4:00.24, Isaac Chambers’ ninth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.56, Fritz Hain’s 11th-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.00 seconds, and Everett Bryant’s 26th-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.46 seconds, and his 22nd-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 22.90 seconds.

For the women, Theresa Ford finished seventh in the high jump with a height of 1.51 meters and sixth in the discus throw with a distance of 36.51 meters, Melanie Frank finished seventh in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:48.31, Alix Dyer finished seventh in the 400-meter run with a time of 58.41 seconds, and Laura Lambie-Hanson finished 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.73 seconds.  In addition, the Eagles’ 4x400-meter relay team of Hadiza Sa-Aadu, Alicia Adams, Melanie Levy and Dyer finished third with a time of 4:03.24.

The Eagles will return to action on May 13th at the Dr. Keeler Invitational, hosted by North Central College in Naperville, IL.
