The Emory University track and field team will look to make a run at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship this weekend, as the Eagles will head to St. Louis, MO for the outdoor championship meet, hosted by Washington University (Mo.) on Saturday and Sunday.

The Emory men will look to improve on their third-place finish at both the 2009 UAA Outdoor Championship last year and the 2010 Indoor Championship in March.  Included in the field this season are two teams ranked in the latest USTFCCCA NCAA Division III poll, 10th-ranked Washington University and 20th-ranked New York University.

Emory will be returning all four members of its 2009 UAA Championship 4x400-meter relay team, and eighth other athletes who earned all-UAA honors at the meet.  At last season’s conference outdoor championship meet, Washington came away with the team victory.

The Emory women, currently ranked 13th in Division III, will try to win their first outdoor conference championship since the 1997 season, after finishing second at both the 2009 UAA Outdoor Championships, and the 2010 UAA Outdoor Championships.  The only other team in the UAA that is currently nationally ranked, besides Emory, is the ninth-ranked University of Chicago.

Returners from last year’s conference meet include 2009 UAA Rookie of the Year Alix Dyer, along with four other all-UAA honorees.  Washington University also won the women’s portion of the 2009 UAA Outdoor Championships.

The meet will be held at the Bushyhead Track on the Washington University campus.  Action will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, and at 9:30 AM on Sunday.  The meet is scheduled to conclude at 2:40 PM on Sunday.  Live Results and live video (weather permitting) will be available during the meet, which can be accessed from the UAA Championship Website.
