Emory University junior Ben Euwer recorded the second-longest shot put throw in school history, while competing at the Kent Taylor Invitational this weekend.  Euwer’s distance of 14.35 meters was .82 meters better than his previous career best in the shot put, and second only six-hundredths of a meter short of Josh Heiber’s school record in the event, set during the 2004 season.  The throw was also good for fifth place in the event and the best by a University Athletic Association (UAA) competitor this season by more than half a meter.  Euwer went on to finish ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 13.13 meters, good for a career best as well.
